Johnny Soap Vega

It develops and continues…

“Soap”

Washes his sorrows away.

At the Ivanhoe Artists Mosaic

It’s hard to forgive

Harder to forget.

My church is all churches

…all places of worship.

I look up to the heavens and have deep reverence for

My maker.

And I love Father Mark.

He is a lifelong figure of love and kindness in my life.  I was fortunate.

He was not like everyone.  Johnny has had his deep sorrows.

And he mentions it. And it is painful for everyone.

But he is able to recognize love and happiness.

His portraits are alive with the personalities of his loved ones. He shows his skill and his personality emerges.

Johnny ” Soap” Vega

Show “Shines”

At the Ivanhoe

June 4, 6pm-10pm

IAM so impressed with our hometown sweetheart Johnny Soap!
Oh he is clever and he has been through it, but he is squeeky clear about his views in this interesting show.
Johnny emerges as an graffiti artist blossomed into full fine art icon of his hometown, Paterson.

Please join us in welcoming Johnny to the Ivanhoe and celebrate his “re-entry” party as the worldly father juxtaposing the trendy graphics of graffiti and the inner sanctity of an artist as he lets it out.

Good Luck Johnny! You are very special to our scene.

Exhibiting June 3rd through June 30, 2011.

Mo's 2011

This is the event we hate most. The closing of a beautiful show.

Anyone who knows Mo, knows that Mo’s stuff is always a sweet surprise. His medium lends to that found arts and crafts experience. But this show is especially sweet and the colors are truly an indication of a shift in Mohamed’s style. Lovely. We really enjoyed it and now we look forward to seeing more from Mohamed as he morphs into his next phase.

Our closing reception is

Wednesday  May 25Th 7pm. Join us for our closing show with Mohamed. Enjoy our “Open “Mike” and some refreshments!

Come say goodbye to Mohamed and watch us prepare for our next guest.

The 5 Caballero’s Show at the Ivanhoe

It’s the
“5 Caballero’s Show”

Our favorite “gentlemen” are exhibiting their talents
and we want you to be there when we celebrate and encourage them as they share their most recent works.
Let’s celebrate their comraderie and our admiration for the arts.
Let’s celebrate life with all of it’s losses and horror’s, struggles and sorrows
and stick with the hope filled dreams.
Let’s look from the eyes of the “crazy artists” to see what’s so great about it.
Don’t miss this special event!  Celebrating the evidence that genius remains even after the fire!

The story…

Painting by Hugo Munoz

Hugo Munoz lost a lifetime of journals and original artworks on January 14, 2011.
Of all people, we never imagined him being at such a loss, especially and ironically over his artworks and right when he was really starting to get out there with his works.
But that changed abruptly.
Unfortunately, we only had a fraction of his works in our computers and phones,
and so we will be exhibiting what remains:
…the evidence of his development… the nature of his thinking… the evidence of his genius! The proof that faith remains even after a fire.

Hugo is joined by his friends Ron Emolo, Frank “Pancho” Garcia, Don Kommit and Ken Create

ON March 9, we will welcome the musical talents of Sam Mealie and Special Guests: Muzzy and Friends.
Muzzy was moved by Hugo’s situation and he didn’t want to miss the chance to be here for him.

Our Opening was lovely! Stay Tuned for more at the

Ivanhoe
“Where Art Lives in Paterson”
With great affection,

IAM and Christine
